A brief analysis and compenium [sic] of chords in Open C for people who do not practice and who do not remember what they learned last lesson. As w/all open tunings I use except open D modal, open C is composed on tonic strings and fifths & only one (1) string is tuned to the major 3rd degree of the C major scale which is E the closest note to C in standard tuning is B, the second string. We tune it up 1/2 step to a C. We leave the G string alone since G is the fifth degree of the C major scale. We
tune the D String down to a C & this gives us C major tuning: CGCGCE. Please note again this is composed entirely of tonics & fifths w/one string tuned to the third degree of the C major scale which is E up & down on the guitar (see illustrations at bottom of page 1 manuscript) (over) |
