The fabled Not The Gas Station Tape had lain undisturbed and unplayed for more than 30 years when discovered by David Gardner in 1999. In mysterious circumstances, the tape (originally misidentified by Dr. Gardner as The Gas Station Tape) found its way to Sydney, Australia where it was restored to its present format. Mr. Fahey heard the tracks once more in April 2000 and was surprised. The presence of The Thief of Bagdad soundtrack (fragment) on the tape perhaps answers many of the questions that have remained unasked since 1940 when the film was first released (see Requia notes).
